I must keep alive in myself the desire for my true country, which I shall not find till after death;
I must never let it get snowed under or turned aside; I must make it the main object of life
to press on to that other country and to help others to do the same. - C. S. Lewis

There is a Parent Meeting for all who wish to be involved in the Parent Group on Tuesday, November 4 from 6:00 - 6:45 p.m. It is election day, but the meeting will end in plenty of time for you to get to the polls if you have not had time to vote during the day.

Students have been busy these last 2 weeks learning about the Church’s teachings on the issues involved in the campaign: the economy, health care, war and terrorism, the culture of life, personal responsibility in the world, poverty, etc. You can find helpful resources for yourself at

http://www.faithfulcitizenship.org, This website is sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

The Holiday Shopping Extravaganza is on Sunday, November 9 from 11-4. Many vendors will be available with a variety of items to purchase. A raffle of offerings from the vendors will also take place. The special children’s raffle, with items/services donated by the teachers, which was such a big hit last year, is back! Polish food and Chinese food will be available to eat in or take out. If your spouse likes to shop and you’d rather watch the game, we have a Sports Lounge for you! A flyer is attached with all the details. If you would like more flyers for your business, your relatives, friends, neighbors, please pick them up in the school office and help us get the word out.

We do need volunteers for the Holiday Shopping Extravaganza. Nancy Dinardo will be contacting parents who indicated a willingness to volunteer at events. If you are able to volunteer, please contact her at

summrsalts@aol.com or call the school office.

Raffle tickets for our annual fundraiser are being sent home today. This is our major fundraiser for the year, per the tuition contract, which will replace the previous calendar fundraiser. Many thanks to our Parent Group who redesigned the fundraiser and chose the prizes. Each family is responsible for forty raffle tickets which equals $400.00. The drawings will be held on December 21, 2008. Please be sure that all tickets and money is returned by that date. Any parent who had the fundraiser amount added to their original tuition payments only needs to send in the completed stubs. Please be sure your name is on the outside of any envelopes you use to send in returns so that you can be credited. You can send in returns gradually or all at once.

Many of our parishioners support our fundraising efforts and are willing to buy tickets after weekend Masses. If you are interested in having your son or daughter sell their tickets after Mass on the weekend of November 15&16 and November 22&23, please contact the school office to sign up. Please note that students must be in uniform to sell tickets.

School pictures by MAC Photography will be taken on November 5. An order form was sent home last week with available packages and a la carte items. Students may wear their own clothes to school that day. All students will have their photo taken for the yearbook that day.

Futsal Registration Information was sent home last week.. Keith Fallon is coordinating the registration process. Mr. Fallon will be available after school on October 29, 30, and 31 to accept registrations. October 31 is the registration deadline for the league. If you would like to coach futsal, please let Mr. Fallon know.

Dance lessons at St. Stan’s, taught by Chace School of Dance, begin tomorrow.

It has come to my attention that some of the older students are drinking energy drinks or coffee in the morning. Such drinks are not allowed at school, including before and after school daycare. Please see the attached article about the effects of energy drinks and caffeine on growing children.

We are aware that links are not working on the St. Stan’s web site. If you wish to check your child’s homework, type in their grade after the address: for eighth grade, you would type www.saintstanislaus.com/8

October is Respect Life Month. Please keep this intention in your prayers throughout the month.

- We will be praying a decade of the rosary at 2:00 on Friday for the intention that all life be respected, from conception to natural death. Parents and caregivers are welcome to join us.
